Adelyn's 1st Dentist Visit

On the first Friday of this month (Feb 3rd), Adelyn went to the dentist for the first time at only 20 months old! I figured it would be a traumatic experience, and my suppositions proved to come true unfortunately! A few months ago when we had her 18 months check up, Adelyn's doctor showed some concern for the fact that she had such few teeth for her age, and suggested that we follow up with a pediatric dentist just to ensure there was nothing (even more) out of the ordinary going on in her mouth! At present, Adelyn has her two front teeth on top, two molars popping through (one on each side) on top, and one molar on the bottom...still no bottom front teeth- so bizarre! The dentist needed to ensure that her bottom teeth were, in fact, set in her gums, and therefore needed to perform an X-ray on her bottom jaw. As if that wasn't going to be upsetting enough to Adelyn, she ended up having to sit on the dentist's lap for the X-ray due to the fact that I cannot be in the room considering I'm pregnant. Poor thing!:( At least after all that we received the good news that Adelyn's bottom teeth ARE set in the gums, and all we can do is wait for them to decide to pop through! As of this week I am pretty certain I can see a glimpse of one bottom tooth surfacing. It is kind of difficult to see since she's not big on letting me prop her mouth open for long enough to examine her! She'll have to follow up with her dentist in 6 months to check on her "mouth progress." In the mean time, hopefully that girl gets some more teeth!
