These were the happenings from Ian's first whole month of life...big adjustments around the house, that's for sure! Adelyn still has not gotten used to the fact that we brought Ian home and cannot take him back- but everyone says it will get better with time! Ian is a GOOD eater- and I mean eating every 2 hours (I'm lucky if he stretches to 3 hours in between feedings!) He is not, however, a good sleeper. Barely naps (maybe 15-20 minutes a couple times a day!), and he is also very colicky- worse than his sister was, I think!...(or maybe it just seems worse because now I have 2 babies to try to concentrate on instead of just the 1?!)
Luc went back to work on the 21st of May after having 3 consecutive weeks off work- how lucky am I?! He has been a BIG help with Adelyn- especially since, as I said before, Ian is very finicky and is only comforted by his Mama! After being at work for only 2 days, Luc started his schedule of having every Wednesday off work- which will continue for the next 4 weeks (again, how lucky am I?!) He and Adelyn spend their Wednesday mornings at the MN Zoo (boy, have we sure put that membership to good use!) which is a "win-win" because I'm not so fond of animals- but Luc is! So Daddy & Addy get some bonding time together, and Mama & Ian stay home and (try to) rest.
Adelyn has maintained her same school schedule (MWF 8-12:30), which Luc & I decided was best. Since there have been so many changes (e.i. transitioning from her crib to a big girl bed, having a new little person in the house hogging all her attention, Mommy's hands being busy...a lot) keeping consistent her school schedule and interaction with friends seemed like a good outlet for her! She LOVES school and is learning SO much!
Here is a look at Ian's 1st month of life!
8 May: at his 2 week check up Ian measured in at:
Weight: 7 lbs (13th percentile)
Length: 20.5" (54th percentile)
Head: 13" (4th percentile)...my kids both had tiny heads! No wonder why labor was a breeze;)
While we were at this check up (Ian was 10 days old, mind you!) Nurse Ellen placed Ian on his tummy and he ROLLED OVER!- 10 DAYS OLD! We were all shocked to see this little guy rolling from his tummy to his back. What a strong boy! I finally caught him rolling over on tape when he was 3.5 weeks old. See below! 16 May: Ian made his first "coo" at 2 1/2 weeks old 24 May: Ian looked directly at me and smiled- he recognizes his Mama!
Here is the announcement Mommy sent out!
It's only been 10 days, but this is exhausting!
Sibling bonding time in big sister's bed
He always sleeps with his little hands by his sweet little face :)
Mama's 1st "Mother-of-2" Mother's Day!
Daddy's 1st time giving Ian a bottle...that didn't go over so well!
So warm & cuddly after bath in my new towel from Mommy's friend Kristine!
Adelyn checking to see what the fuss is all about...
Having some Mommy & Peanut time at the grocery store
We're all about the "kids of all ages free cookies" (even Mommy too...shh!)
