Our Peanut celebrated her 3rd year of life at the end of May. She continues to be such a bright light in our every day and is so dramatic and quite silly :) She finished the month of May celebrating with her friends at school before our "summer home with Mommy" began.
Some of A's favorites:
Adelyn still continues to love and adore her bear more than ever! Aside from taking Bear everywhere, she has also begun mothering Bear as well. She reenacts incidents from her day, and particularly ones that involve consequences or punishments she received. It is so funny to hear her scold Bear, and I always think to myself, "do I sound THAT mean?!!" She has come to learn who is "the boss" (Mommy & Daddy, or Granny when she babysits) and she must only worry about herself instead of bossing her brother around. She also knows she is "Bear's Mommy," so she can boss him around however she wants ;)
Her language never ceases to amaze me (I always joke that she's been talking since she came out of the womb! Chatty Addy!) She has an excellent grasp on replacing names for pronouns. For example if I ask, "who's cup is this?" she responds, "mine" instead of speaking in the 3rd person by saying "it's Adelyn's." It dawned on me one day that she was speaking so proficiently- and without really having to learn it or be corrected to speak that way! Very bright :)
Another idea she has a good grasp on is who belongs to who. Such as: she know that her Granny is Mommy's mommy. The same goes with Auntie: she knows her cousin Joshy's mommy is her Auntie, and that, I, her Mommy am Joshy's auntie. Again, this was not something that really needed much reiterating- she just learned very quickly by asking questions and then putting the pieces together from there!
As I said earlier, her last day of school was a few days before her birthday, and she was able to celebrate with her friends which was so much fun for her (especially since we did not get to having a party for her this year!) She loves school so much, and really learns a lot! At the beginning of the month she had conferences (how cute!) and we learned she was among the brightest and best listeners of the class- which, as a parent, is the most gratifying compliment!
Adelyn had her annual check up. Here is a look at Adelyn one year ago at age 2. She was still so babyish! And here is how the big girl measured up this year at age 3:
Weight: 31lbs (55%)
Height: 36 in (70%)
Blood pressure: 86/50
A also had development, hearing, and vision screenings at this visit, too- all of which she passed with flying colors! Such a big girl!
Here are some May highlights of our birthday girl :)

Our baby girl on her birthday :)
A's b-day lunch w/ Granny!
Hello Kitty party with family (in her HK skirt, too!)
One of A's favorite presents- a guitar just like cousin Josh!
The last present Adelyn unwrapped we had A sit on one of the grandparent's laps (we had 2 get-togethers: one with my family, and one with Luc's). There were 2 books in this present: on top was the blue one "I'm a Big Brother," and underneath was the book A already had "I'm a Big Sister." In the pic she is covering it up, but I had a post-it note underneath the title that said "again." Then the ultrasound of our upcoming addition was tucked in A's book :) Not really a "present" for the birthday girl, but we used her b-day as an opportunity to tell our families!
Happy birthday, Peanut- you're going to be a big sister, again! :)
