This month Ian turned 16 months old, ahh!
Although he still isn't talking, he does say words, and he definitely has his own language! Last month I noted that he was saying "ook ook" as he pointed to things. He was doing that for pretty much anything he wanted to draw our attention to. This month, he is still doing the same but it has turned into more of "uck uck." He distinguishes many different things separately (such as truck, duck, quack, and book), but continues to the same word "uck" to point these things out and more. I think he gets frustrated (I'm sure the little guy wants to talk!), but he just can't find words! I started practicing some signs with him again, just to ease our communication, and he has caught onto that a bit quicker and now signs "more," and sometimes "please" and "all done."
Words he DOES distinctively say are: Mommy (either Mah-me or mama), Daddy (dah-dee), ball, and obviously he's got truck down pretty well, too! A new rentor moved in with our neighbor next door who drives a Ram, and as soon as I open Ian's blinds each morning morning he points at it and yells "uck uck!!" :) He also made his 1st animal noise this month (see vid below)- too cute!
Also this month we cut out Ian's morning nap...again. We tried to do so back in late June, and it worked for awhile but we just were not making it through mornings until the afternoon! Now, maybe 1-2 days a week (depending on how early he wakes up in the morning), he still needs a morning nap, especially if we don't have any activities planned and stay around the house! But for the most part he is making it until 2ish until both he and A go down for their afternoon naps!
