July heated up for us and kept us quite busy! Adelyn has been busily discovering even more now that she's 3. One of the things I've noticed about her lately is her sense of time. It wasn't too long ago when she recalled all events as happening "last year." Recently, she's learned the difference of today, yesterday, the other day, and last year- and she even uses them all correctly! Every time we go to my parents house we pass the day care center she attended before the last one. So she always says, "Hey! There's me & Joshy's old school (Josh went there, too)! We went there last year!" Hehe :)
Some of our July events included the following!!
New big girl bedding
All ready for cousin Joshy's baseball game
Granny took A for her 1st manicure with Fran
Looking pretty!
A & C being silly together
Celebrating Joshy's last game of the season
A has started taking showers with Mama. She is so big, and she LOVES
using Mommy's conditioner so that she doesn't have snarls!
Our Mama/baby date...after dance class her fav dish is Noodles!
Busily working on her workbook
Ta da!
Luc and I have been pretty exhausted by some of Adelyn's behaviors lately- mostly her disregarding and testing our authority, as well as constantly pushing, kicking, taking toys from, etc. her brother. After much thought, and being at our wits end, I decided it was time to implement a daily chore chart. At the end of every day, we go over our chores, and if she has finished them she gets to flip up the "done" flap. If she had trouble completing the task and following through all day with it, then we say "we'll do better tomorrow" and leave it open. If she does ALL of her chores, she gets to put a big sticker on the calendar for that day. If she only does some chores, she receives a little sticker. So far it has been going quite well, and while I am home all day and know if she did or did not do certain chores, we've learned she is very honest if only Luc is around at bedtime to do her chart with her. :) Her chores include: make my bed, share with my brother and/or friends if we have play dates (also gentle touches falls into this category), using the potty chair (no accidents), putting her shoes underneath the bench on the shoe tray, listening/respecting Mommy & Daddy's words, and picking up her toys.
